Greg Chiate, Partner

Greg brings over 20 years of investing experience to GC Capital. Prior to forming GC Capital, Greg was a partner at Behrman Capital, a private equity fund with $2 billion of committed capital. Greg was with Behrman Capital for ten years where he consummated multiple transactions ranging in enterprise values of $4 million to $550 million and across multiple industries including Information Technology, Specialty Manufacturing, and Defense. His primary responsibilities included sourcing investment opportunities, making acquisitions, and developing strategic plans for portfolio companies. Current and previous board positions include: Med-Tech Resource (medical supplies); ILC Industries (electronics manufacturing); Pelican Products (injection molded manufacturing); Kinetics Group (semiconductor capital equipment); and Dyno Merchandise (distributor).

Previously, he was a Vice President at BT Capital Partners, where he spent four years working on numerous private equity transactions, including leveraged buyouts, recapitalizations, and growth financings. Prior to that, he spent three years working on highly leveraged transactions for BT Alex Brown’s Structured Finance Group. 

Greg graduated with distinction from the University of California at Berkeley with a BA in Economics. In addition to his investing activities, he serves on the board of directors of ReSurge International, a non-profit dedicated to providing free reconstructive surgeries to burn victims and those born with physical abnormalities. He lives in Marin with his wife and two children.

Chip Linehan, Partner

Prior to co-founding GC Capital, Chip spent 18 years at New Enterprise Associates ("NEA"), a venture capital and growth equity firm with over $11 billion of committed capital.  He joined NEA in 1992 and rose to a General Partner before stepping down in 2010. 

While at NEA, he invested approximately $500 million in more than 25 companies across several industries, including Healthcare Services, Medical Devices, Enterprise Software, Business Process Outsourcing, Consumer Internet, and Insurance.  In addition to his investing responsibilities, Chip also served on the firm’s Administration Committee, as well as co-head of NEA's global healthcare investing practice.  Previous board positions included: CHG Healthcare, Bravo Health, Vantage Oncology, Simplex Healthcare and Elance. 

Chip received a BA (cum laude) from Harvard University.  In addition to his investing activities, he is the founder and board chair of a San Francisco based educational non-profit, the SMART Program.  Chip lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts with his wife and two children.
